Previous Gatherings
For those of you who are curious to see what we've been up to in the past and what workshops and talks have been and gone here is a list of the 2006 and 2007 gatherings so far. Older evenings can be found in the archive.
17 April '07 - Discussion Evening with Scorpius. Following the success of Scorpius' discussion evening last year, the topic of the shadow side of Paganism, the concepts of good and evil and their relevance to our paths returns to be debated once more.
20 March '07 - Spring Equinox Social Gathering and Egg Painting Competition. To celebrate the spring equinox LondonWitch will hold it's annual egg painting competition once more. Bring along your entry for a prize.
20 February '07 - Incorporating Myth into Everyday Practice with Maria Malo. In this talk we shall look at how reading myths and stories from the ancient past can be used as a starting point to connect with the Gods and Goddesses. Through this, suggestions on how you may progress, modernise and create your own personal practices will be made.
16 January '07 - Occultism and Paganism in the Early 20th Century. Invited guest speaker, Dr Christina Oakley from Treadwells will give a talk on Paganism, witches and occultism in the early 20th Century and their influences on today. With a nod to Dion Fortune's Sea Priestess, Alisder Crowley's Gnostic Mass and Gerald Gardner's naked dancing.
19 December '06 - Yule Social Gathering. The Yule festival (along with other holidays) is likely to mean that many of us are celebrating with family and friends so this month will be a social gathering.
21 November '06 - Horned God Workshop. Following the success of an earlier workshop exploring the female aspects of the divine, Scorpius will attempt to redress the balance and lead a workshop on the sometimes overlooked male. After a brief talk on the rise in popularity of the more prominant Goddess within Paganism an introduction to some concepts of the Horned God and a look at the various archetypes there will be an opportunity to create your own representation in clay.
17 October '06 - Samhain Social Gathering. This month will see the return of the now traditional pumpkin carving competition to be judges by an independent adjudicator. You can bring a pre-carved pumpkin or carve at the venue (but please be responsible if bringing knives). We'll also have a small raffle for you to try your luck. This social gathering is the perfect opportunity for you to introduce interested friends to a relaxed and friendly environment. View photos here.
19 September '06 - Magic for Three or More. With over thirty-five years of experience between them, Jon Randall and Maria Malo will discuss the practical application of running a group or coven. The dynamics, the pitfalls, and the fun that can be had when two or more Witches / Pagans / Magicians meet in small confined spaces with the furniture pushed back. This can be followed with a Q&A session.
15 August '06 - Harvest Herbs with Rue. In the lead up to the most fruitful time of year, Rue will be presenting a workshop on Lammas herbs, associated superstition and lore surrounding this time with an introduction to corn weaving. The usual workshop cover charge of £3.50 will apply and will cover your corn and herbs for the evening. View photos here.
18 July '06 - Incense Workshop with Gypsie (Postponed from May). Following the success of an earlier incense workshop led by Gypsie she has volunteered to take centre stage for those who missed it first time round.
20 June '06 - Solstice Social Gathering. As many people will be away or out this evening, we have an informal evening of chatting and good company to welcome in the longest day.
16 May '06 - Incense Workshop with Gypsie (Postponed to July). An unfortunate double booking at the venue meant we couldn't hold the workshop as planned so we rescheduled the event for July.
18 April '06 - Discussion Evening with Scorpius. An open discussion evening led by Scorpius will debate the concepts of good and evil and their relevance to Paganism. The shadow side of Paganism, "Dark Wicca", the Left Hand Path and other subjects will be included.
21 March '06 - Pub Quiz & Painted Egg Competition. This will be the third Witchy Pub Quiz of the Central London Gathering with questions on a variety of witchy magic, music, and general knowledge. And as usual there will be the highly entertaining bonus questions to earn you those extra points - with a prize for the team with the most points. Talking of prizes there will also be one for the best decorated egg (and Rue - this year it does need to be an egg!!).
21 February '06 - 3rd Anniversary Event. To celebrate we have a raffle planned with loads of great prizes (the star prize is a beautiful boxed crystal ball). The tickets will be 50p each or five for £2, and if you bring a new face you get a ticket free! And if that's not enough, we've also arranged for a Tarot reader to be available for readings throughout the evening.
25th January '06 - Welcoming the Spring Workshop. This workshop not only involves welcoming the spring, but we will be planting our hopes, dreams and wishes for the future. You can share these with other or keep them personal between yourself and the divine.
